Hi Cazz, How old are you? could it be something to do with your age. I can get like that now and then I am 51. Or it could be this time of year, the lack of sunlight etc. Try not to let it get you down. Take care and Merry Xmas to you both. Lorna x

Yes i can have periods lke that too but I couldn't even begin to say why! If you are generally okay then it probably isn't depression. I get very weepy at christmas time for some reason! You may have a touch of Seasonal Affected Disorder maybe? YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Caz,
Don't think you are on your own here, I too can feel quite sad on occasions since being diagnosed and have often had a little cry in private. I believe mine is due to 'still coming to terms with RA' and feeling sorry for myself now and again, and thinking that my life is changing, and not being able to do the things I want to and at the pace I use to.
Hope you discover the reason why you feel like this, a visit to the doctor might help.
Take care
Anne x

Hello Caz
Poor you. However I do know how you are feeling. You are certainly not on your own. I also get quite frequently a 'wave' of emotion from nowhere. You feel such a fool as difficult to explain isn't.
I went on prozac (against my will initially) back in August, and actually it has been great for me - I don't cry as much as I used to. If I feel grouchy I take myself upstairs and put on my i pod till I feel better. I love all sorts of music having been in the local Operatic Society.
Happy Christmas to you

Dear Caz, You are certainly not alone in this "wave of tearfulness" business! I am now 53 years old and have been diagnosed with R.A since I was 38. Lately I have been having a fairly major flare up and coupled with the extreme cold weather conditions I find myself silently crying at the drop of a hat! My answer I am afraid is major quantities of red wine in the evenings! Luckily my only drug at present is Hydroxychloriquine so I can at least escape the physical and mental pain of R.A with my red wine! So please don't feel alone - we are all prone to this sadness I think from the replies you have had. Best wishes, Fiona

thanks for all your replies
i am 51 but this is something i've no explanation for i've been going thru the change for several years but this is different
maybe it is coming to terms with having to give up work just recently
or even starting MTX
or both
unfortunately i had a small glass of wine with xmas dinner -- boy did i feel rough!!!!!!!!!!!
i think i have to become tee total --i think it was a reaction with the MTX
so altho i would normally turn to the red wine i think i will have to steer clear!!
i should be on a high -- of sorts--as new year means daughters wedding
but like most of you have suggested a visit to Dr's maybe in order
love caz xx

Hi Caz You're certainly not on your own. I'm exactly the same and can suddenly feel sad enough to cry for no apparent reason. And it's not just this time of year either, I'm like it all the year round. As for the mtx and the drinking, are you on a high dose? I guess if you're on a really high dose then you're probably sensible to steer clear of alcohol, but I'm on a fairly low dose as a supplement to the sulpha, and I still have the occasional drink with no ill effects. My rheumy says that it shouldn't be a problem so I'm going with that Anthea x

but if you are on the small size the 7.5 ml might be a good dose for you . it might be the same for a larger person to be on a larger dose .Why the drink afteted you .Found a mouthfull of champane really did make me feel very odd where the odd drink of wine was ok .I am now on 7.5 but at xmas i was on 5mg ( liver ) its normal 10 mls Some of my friends are moody and tearfull are going though the change . Me i hate to say this it brought on the r.a and the overlaps but i have sailed though it other wise never had a flush or nothing just the r.a and stuff . Some of my friends seem to be going though it for ever . May be a trip to a good female doctor ??? Hope you feel better soon Christine The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady
